My Salomon boots gave out the day before I left for a week's walking on the West Highland Way so I bought a pair of these Meindl boots and I am absolutely delighted with them. I have pretty wide size 9.5-10 feet so I often struggle to find shoes that fit well, but the size 10 of these Meindl boots fitted perfectly from the word go and didn't require any breaking in. They are light and very comfortable to walk in, both on paths and on rockier terrain. The sole is quite flexible so you get decent 'feel' for light scrambling and the grip is excellent. Obviously I can't tell yet how hardy they will be over time but I couldn't be happier with them so far.

Very comfortable and supportive. I have an ankle injury but these boots are high enough to feel secure and flexible enough not to feel like my scarpa sl's. o.k. grip on mud and scree in Yorkshire Dales, Lakes and local towpaths.
BIG MAJOR PROBLEM. The soles seems to degrade and break away after six months between the outer sole and the boot. I walk approx 20-30 miles a week dog walking along the canal and more if I go for a day out ; Ingleborough, Lakes etc. This is my second pair and only bought them as they were on offer. I won't be buying these again and have gone back to Brasher and Scarpa. I e-mailed Meindl but haven't had any reply. Suppose it's not worth their while bothering with. Shame really as the boots fit well.
